Riau Islands has a Batik with its distinctive pattern of marine life such as Gonggong (Strombus Turturella) which is one of the sea slug species found around the waters of the Riau Islands. - Awan Larat Kembang Beratur batik is typical motif from Kep. Riau, This motif is all about plant for instance, sprouts with leaves and flower blooms. Usually this pattern or motif is used for the technique (a kind of Malay style craft) for the ornament of the Malay bride. These patterns / motifs are usually associated with weakness of humility, wisdom and self-knowledge. These are the basic attributes that are always cultivated by the Malay elders to their descendants. Flowers and buds are always the symbol of love, purity, sincerity and subtlety of kindness, friendship and brotherhood.
